Support program For emerging designer- makers

Make North will support around 12 emerging designer-makers, all with a high level of skill, by providing studio space, access to shared facilities, opportunities to deliver projects and regular exhibitions. We are currently seeking business sponsorship and mentors for a business support program, with expertise in: business planning, financial management, curation and marketing. Mentors will contribute around 4hrs of their time every 4 months to host a group surgery and around two hours per month to offer follow-up advice via email.

We are seeking financial sponsorship to subsidise a small number of studio places for talented emerging-makers within 2 years of setting up their practice, who we identify as having the acumen and drive to build a particularly successful creative enterprise, but who need time and support to fully establish their business. Sponsorship of £1000 will support one emerging-maker for 6months, covering the cost of: studio space, access to shared workshop facilities and a materials budget of £250.

Every 6months residents will stage an exhibition, recognising the support of business mentors and sponsors.

Make North has four existing residents, all in the early stages of their careers, all producing work of a very high quality and exhibiting widely in high-profile shows and retail spaces. Makers for the sponsored incubator program will be selected by a panel, to include program mentors and sponsors and will be chosen for their level of skill and their existing business-plan and profile relative to the stage of their practice.
