Thanks to Micaela Schoop for these fantastic tutorials, Micaela uses these techniques in her own work www.micaelaschoop.co.uk , she has a members profile so you can contact her through our site. Please let us know if you would like any underglaze colours, pencils, design liners or wax, please provide the stock code. We will charge you the Potclays price. www.potclays.co.uk/studio/categories/255/mayco-designer-liner www.potclays.co.uk/studio/categories/227/underglaze-pencils-crayons www.potclays.co.uk/studio/categories/257/mayco-underglazes Underglazes are sold in 2oz pots (56ml) but it is considerably cheaper to buy larger quantities. If a number of members are interested in underglaze colours I can split the larger pots into three (as with the glazes).
This takes a bit of practice, but once you have it mastered it's the quickest and neatest way to make a handle, of many sizes and shapes. This tutorial has been created by Christine Cherry www.christinecherryceramics.co.uk
Spend some time searching for and collecting texture, in your house, flat, garden, yard or whilst on your daily walk if you can get outside. Almost anything can be used to make texture! Let your slabs or work firm up slightly before impressing texture, otherwise things will get stuck and it's difficult to work neatly; test and see what works for you. You can find information on using oxides and glaze with texture lower down. Below are photos of oxides and glaze with texture, below that is a really short video on application. You can find a list of the glazes we have available here www.makenorth.org/forum/painting-glazes
