Make North provides access to high quality tuition, facilities and materials and ensures they are available and accessible to all, by offering tutorials and support both online and in person; firing & screen exposure services; materials with advice; doorstep collection and sessional bookings for wheels and other facilities. We opened in August 2019 and currently have around 120 members across Lancashire.

Make North was established by Louise Smith. Louise grew up in Preston, but lived and worked for many years in Edinburgh, then London and has been involved in developing and managing many large arts events and festivals, with a focus on community development. In late 2018, after a project she was involved in came to an end in London, Louise felt the time was right to start something in her own neck of the woods and moved back to Preston to open Make North.

Creating opportunities for young people to engage in quality creative workshops has always been important to Louise and she is also a key partner in an exciting project with the Youth Zone Network and Kate Malone to bring pottery to thousands of young people across the UK, as well as working with local schools to develop a program for them.

You can find more information on Louise and her past projects on her website www.louisesmith.work
